Awa
Monday, April 26th, 2010Kava
Ah yes the mysterious brown drink we serve at all First Fridays and Open Mic Sundays. Kava or awa in Hawaiian is a drink made from the roots and stems of the plant and is mostly found throughout the cultures of Polynesia. Traditionally kava was drunk during times of ceremony and celebration.
The effects of Kava are known to be medicinal and soothing. It helps to ease stressed minds and calm nerves. The drink is also said to be great for the “blues” because it brings on a happy, tranquil state while keeping your mind alert and your body relaxed.
Ready to try some??
Well lucky for you Ong King happens to be one of only a few Kava (Awa) Bars in Hawaii and with a deal like $5 dollars all you can drink, you really can’t beat it. Add a little coconut milk to the mix and you’re on your way to a good night.
Wing Chun Classes Starting at Ong King March 28th!
Monday, March 22nd, 2010new CLASS: Sacred Breathing Technique, Every Tues 7pm
Monday, June 8th, 2009Sacred Breathing Space: Every Tuesday 7pm – 8:30 @ ong King ArtS center
About: Sacred Breathing Space is an environment open to the public, in which all are reminded to stay present, by reminding ourselves and each other to stay focused on breath… We will have discussions about pertient and metaphysical issues. We will be focusing on interaction in a way that feels completely safe for everyone involved; allowing each individual to act as their true, highest self. The goal will be a constant remembrance of the Now Here, through the placement of intention on the inhalation and exhalation. This technique is vital in re-establishing connection with the higher realms, as well as grounding more in the physical body.
Harmonic tones, mantras, and controlled breathing exercises (pranayama) will be employed along with ‘free play’ breathing sessions to help energize and oxigenate us. We look forward to ‘con-spiring’ with you in rememberance of the divine.
